If you’re planning a trip to this tropical gem, this ultimate travel guide will help you navigate the ins and outs of an epic three-week trip. Grab your backpack, pack your sunscreen, and let’s escape to the Philippines together!

Why the Philippines should be your next travel destination

I can confidently say that the Philippines is one of my favorite countries. Its natural beauty, rich culture, and warm-hearted locals make it such a travel destination that you'll feel like the Philippines is tailor-made for you.

The Philippines is the perfect destination for a traveler. There are blue ocean waters, white sandy beaches, cool lakes, and breathtaking mountain views. The people of the Philippines are very friendly, which will make you want to come here even more. The country's historical and cultural sites are also fascinating, showing you a beautiful blend of the past and the present.

Philippines should be your next travel destination

The best time to travel is the dry season, which lasts from November to June. It's the perfect window to explore the country's islands, beaches, and bustling cities without the hassle of rain.

But with so many islands to choose from, planning your trip can be overwhelming. That's why I've created this perfect three-week travel guide to help you experience the best attractions in the Philippines.

Here's how we traveled, so you can follow along and make a pretty good plan, let's get started!

Week 1: Manila and the Island of Coron

Day 1: Arriving in Manila

Our journey begins in Manila, the vibrant capital of the Philippines. The city is a unique mix of modern skyscrapers, historical landmarks, and bustling markets. Manila’s local culture and modern lifestyle combine to make the city a special destination.

Arriving in Manila tourpapa

For our stay, I recommend staying at Z Hostel, a unique and budget-friendly place where we can meet other travelers and immerse ourselves in the city’s vibrant culture. Z Hostel is a very popular hostel known for its friendly atmosphere and amenities.

After check-in, Z Hostel offers a free city tour led by Mark, a local guide, who gives us insight into Filipino culture, food, and shopping. Mark shows us around Manila Globe Memorial Park and Old Queen City, which features a beautiful mix of modern elements with historical sites and ancient buildings.

He also taught us the art of bargaining—a must-have skill when navigating Philippine markets! Popular markets in Manila include Binanda Market and People's Plaza. There, we can buy priceless souvenirs and handmade goods, but you have to bargain.

In the evening, head to the Z Hostel’s rooftop bar for a refreshing drink. With a stunning view of the Manila skyline, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a long flight. The rooftop bar has become particularly popular for its incredible views and relaxed atmosphere.

This was a great end to our first day—enjoying Manila's vibrant nightlife and cityscape.

Day 2-3: Exploring Coron

After a comfortable night at Z Hostel, it’s time for the trip to Coron Island. A quick one-hour flight from Manila to Busuanga Island will take us to this laid-back town, which is the epicenter of island hopping. Coron is known for its crystal-clear waters, secluded lagoons, and vibrant coral reefs.

On our first day in Coron, we embark on the famous "Super Ultimate" boat tour with Eclipse Travel and Tours. The highlight of the day is the breathtaking Kayangan Lake, where we will be able to swim in the clearest water I have ever seen.

The silence and purity of this lake give us a wonderful peaceful experience. Then, we will continue our swimming to Barracuda Lake, a beautiful and peaceful place where colorful fish and clear water.

Next, we enjoyed Coral Garden, a snorkeling paradise that took us among some of the most colorful marine life found anywhere in the world. This was one of my favorite parts of the trip—swimming with vibrant fish in such clear water felt like swimming in a real-life aquarium.

For lunch, we enjoyed a feast of delicious local Filipino cuisine served by the water. The views here are great, and the food is even more beautiful. In particular, the grilled fish and local favorites offer a new taste experience.

During the trip, we visit Skeleton Wreck to see the sunken shipwreck and the fascinating history behind it. It is one of the best underwater sites in the Philippines, where we can be a part of its mysterious history by taking a fun boat ride.

Afterward, we head to CYC Beach to relax for a while and enjoy the beauty of Twin Lagoon. The environment and natural beauty here make our entire trip an unforgettable experience.

Day 4-7: Island Hopping and Exploring Coron

For the next few days, we can rent a scooter and explore the island on our own. We start our day by visiting Marsala Beach, a hidden gem where we can relax on the beach and spend time in a peaceful environment.

In the evening, our next destination is Makinit Hot Springs, one of the few saltwater hot springs in the world. After a long day of sightseeing, these warm, mineral-rich waters are perfect for relaxing. While bathing here, we can experience a calm and pure feeling amidst the island's nature.

On our last day in Coron, on this trip, we will visit also three islands, where we will see pristine beaches and amazing turquoise waters. The natural beauty of these islands will give us wonderful memories, which we will never forget.

On our second day, we rented a scooter and went to Nakpan Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines. It was a great place to relax, and we spent time in the peaceful atmosphere enjoying fresh seafood. The soft sand and calm waters of the beach completely refreshed our minds and bodies.

For sunset, we headed to Las Cabanas Beach, where we enjoyed one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Philippines. As the sun sank into the water.

Day 10-11: Island Hopping in El Nido

On our third day in El Nido, we joined the popular tour, which offers a kayaking experience through the crystal-clear waters of the Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon. Kayaking in the bright blue waters and calm atmosphere felt like we were in the most beautiful place on earth.

Other highlights of this tour included the Sacred Lagoon, where we took a dip in the waters in a more secluded setting and felt the peace. Afterward, enjoying a delicious picnic lunch on Shimizu Island was a truly unique experience.

The last destination of the tour was Seven Commandos Beach, another pristine beach that felt like we had stepped into a postcard. The white sand and clear water of the beach here amazed us and we spent a long time here, being able to be one with nature.

This island hopping was one of the best experiences of our stay in El Nido, and it helped us experience the beauty of the islands of the Philippines more deeply.

Day 12-13: Puerto Princesa

After traveling from El Nido to Puerto Princesa, we booked a van for the four and a half hour drive. Along the way, our drive was peaceful and relaxed, and upon arriving in Puerto Princesa, we rented a car for the next day's adventure.

The city of Puerto Princesa is famous for its underground river, which is considered one of the new seven wonders of the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I was sure that this was an experience I would never forget.

The next day, we started early in the morning and the destination was Sabang, which is a coastal town in Puerto Princesa. From here, we took a boat to the Underground River.

This trip was quite different, as it took us through an 8.2-kilometer-long underground river system. The darkness and eerie silence of the river, the water flowing through the caves, and the amazing natural formations were really great.

This trip was an unreal experience, and I felt nothing but beauty and tranquility in every moment of it.
